March Program Meeting

On March 17, 2021 we will be hearing from Dr. Tom Offerhaus.

Dr. Tom Offerhaus is a partner and attorney-at-law at WTS Group AG in Germany. WTS is a leading international tax advisory firm with a global network in more than 100 countries, including eleven offices in Germany. Prior to joining WTS in 2008, Dr. Offerhaus was employed at law firms in various countries, including the U.S. and South Africa. He then worked for over ten years in the private client business at Ernst & Young in Munich and London. He is now responsible for the private client business of WTS in Germany. Dr. Offerhaus primarily advises families, entrepreneurs and senior executives on the tax optimization of their asset structures as well as on matters relating to cross-border tax, succession and family law. He also assists financial intermediaries like insurance companies in structuring their products and solutions for wealthy private individuals.

Dr. Offerhaus has kindly agreed to speak to our group on a number of topics that are highly relevant to us, including inheritance and gift tax in the German-American context; examples of legal pitfalls of succession in German-American cases; and the potential tax implications of last November’s presidential election for Americans residing in Germany.
