Elena Schmidt is the Executive Director of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials Association (RSB) - a diverse network of global industry and sector leaders, environmental and civil society organisations, academic institutions, and UN and government bodies.
She joined the RSB in 2015 and served as the RSB Standards Director until taking over as Executive Director. Prior to joining the RSB, she was Head of the TÜV SÜD Certification Body for Climate and Energy. Elena has extensive experience with sustainability programmes and a strong record of delivering product and business model innovation. Elena earned Master’s degrees in both Environmental and Political Sciences.
In her talk, Elena will tell us how the RSB has created a robust and credible sustainability framework, known as the RSB Principles & Criteria, which is the foundation for collaborative programmes and certification services, that provide accountability of just practices across entire supply chains.
The RSB accelerates the transition to a sustainable and circular bioeconomy – creating a world in which climate change has been mitigated, biodiverse ecosystems restored, and livelihoods enhanced.
