February 2020 Meeting

You may be surprised to learn that Katharina Heinrich, our speaker for February, is an accomplished singer, songwriter, recording artist and ukulele instructor. That’s because she’ll be putting on a different hat when she speaks to our group. In addition to music, Kat has another passion: upcycling. Also known as creative reuse, upcycling is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. As Kat puts it, “What could be more inspiring and satisfying than using your imagination to turn junk into treasure, in seeing everything as a resource, seeing old things/materials with new eyes and giving them a new life and role?” Kat has not only published a successful book on upcycling but also holds workshops where participants transform what others might consider trash into charming items that exude vintage flair. She’ll be offering an English-language workshop from 11 am - 1 pm on Sunday, March 8 —  so be sure to save  the date!
