The Genius of Dr. Seuss

Program Meeting - January 2018

Children’s Literature is often thought of as simple (even simplistic), formulaic, and not terribly demanding. For centuries academics have looked down on children’s literature and considered it unworthy of scholarly research. Using Dr. Seuss’s “The Cat in The Hat” as an example, AAUPW member, literary scholar and children’s book publisher Kristy Koth will show us just how complex and multifaceted picture books can be. You probably have always loved Dr. Seuss. Now you’ll know why!
