Gender and Sexuality in & outside the Western World

Program Meeting - February 2018

Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30 PM

Please join us this week when we will have the pleasure of meeting Taylor Riley, who in the final phases of filing her dissertation at University of Bayreuth, will speak about LGBT and various issues from a global perspective. Drawing on some examples from her research in South Africa and on queer life more broadly, she will talk about the different ways we can think about gender and sexuality in and outside of the Western world. Finally, she will present some thoughts on the question of what comes after the struggle for equal rights like marriage equality, leaving some time for questions and discussion.

Ms. Riley received her masters in Gender, Development and Globalisation from the London School of Economics and her Bachelors in International Relations (minor: Gender Studies) from Richmond University. She is currently busy finishing up work on her Doctorate in Social Anthropology.
